Class Information

Where do your classes take place?
All of our classes take place at restaurants in Manchester.

The Thai, Italian, Sushi & Baking classes are in central Manchester.  Our Indian class is 10 minutes drive from central Manchester.  All are easy to get to and are perfect venues for our classes.

On our website it shows the availability for each class where it will highlight the venue for the class (restaurant name).  You can click on the Venue Name for more information and the address of the restaurant.

How long do your classes last for?
The classes last between 2 and 3 hours.  We offer a number of different cuisines and some classes offer more dishes to cook so therefore last longer.

On our website it shows the availability for each class where it will highlight the ‘duration’ for the class that specific class.

I am a complete beginner and was hoping you had a class for someone like me?
All classes are designed to suit all levels and experience.  Whether you are a complete novice or a very confident cook you will feel at ease and enjoy the class.  There is one on one chef attention and the IntaFood host is also there to help anyone who might need it.

We always recommend to start on a Commis Chef class as you’ll get the full introduction to the cuisine.

What is the difference between your Commis, Sous and Head classes?
All classes are designed to suit all levels and experience.  We try and offer multiple classes for each cuisine to give you more choice on what you can learn.  Each class will have a set agenda and will offer certain dishes for you to cook.  Please read the information on our website for each class which will explain what dishes you will make.

Sous Chef and Head Chef classes tend to offer more dishes and therefore last longer and cost more.  You will have the complete introduction to a specific cuisine (i.e. cooked up to 8 different dishes) after completing the Commis, Sous and Head classes and will receive a certificate, chefs hat and IntaFood apron.

We always recommend to start on a Commis Chef class but you are able to attend a Sous or Head class first if the dishes on that class agenda are preferred.

Do I have to take the classes in order?
No you don’t.  We always recommend to start on a Commis Chef class but you are able to attend a Sous or Head class first if the dishes on that class agenda are preferred.

Why do you recommend to attend the Commis Chef class first?
Our Commis classes are the most popular classes we do, this means there is always more availability.  The Commis classes are the best value classes we offer and are a good foundation to the cuisine.  They are relaxed and fun and offer you an introduction to all the common ingredients used in that cuisine.

Do you have to have taken the Commis class before doing the Sous class?
No you don’t.  We always recommend to start on a Commis Chef class but you are able to attend a Sous or Head class first if the dishes on that class agenda are preferred.

Yes you will.  Easy to follow recipes and instructions for all the dishes you will cook on the class will be given to you in an Information Pack for you to take away afterwards.

Do your classes take place in the restaurants kitchen?
No they don’t.  Most restaurant kitchens are too small and are not safe for a small group to have a cooking class.  Our classes take place in a function room or a quiet part of the restaurant to give us enough space to do the class.  This enables us to offer a safe class with lots of chef attention and the space to create a relaxed, informal and fun class.

Who teaches the cooking class?
The head chef at our partner restaurant will teach the class.  They are trained chefs and are experts at what they do.  The chef will lead the class but there will also be an IntaFood host present to help out also.

Do I need to bring anything with me to confirm I am booked on the class?
No.  We will email you an agenda for the class about 1 week before the class date.  If you have received this email you are booked on to attend the class.  The IntaFood host will greet you when you arrive and will have your name down as an attendee.

Do your classes cater for Vegetarians?
Yes we do.  After booking your place on the class you will need to give us all the Attendee Information.  We will ask whether you have any special requirements, in this section please highlight you are vegetarian.  The chef will then prepare the vegetarian versions of the dishes cooked on the class.

Do any of your classes use Halal ingredients?
Yes, our Indian classes use Halal ingredients.  The other classes we run can be Halal friendly.  After booking your place on the class you will need to give us all the Attendee Information.  We will ask whether you have any special requirements, in this section please highlight you would like Halal friendly ingredients.  The chef will then make sure that the ingredients you use are Halal.

Are all the ingredients and equipment needed included in the price of the class?
Yes.  You cook individually and will have your own cooking station with all the equipment (including apron) and ingredients provided.

Do I need to bring an apron with me to the class?
No, an apron will be provided.  You cook individually and will have your own cooking station with all the equipment (including apron) and ingredients provided.

Do you have more dates in 2012 available?
We aim to have availability on classes for at least 3 months from the present date.  You are able to email us with the class and dates you are interested in.  We can then contact you as soon as more availability is announced.  Click here to go to our Contact Us page.

The class I want to go on is fully booked, are you able to squeeze me on?
Not if the class is definitely fully booked.  We have maximum numbers on classes to make sure all attendees get the full experience.  Sometimes we have drop outs and places do become available.  We would advise that you email us with your request and we’ll check and let you know as soon as possible.  Click here to go to our Contact Us page.
